207556 Sgt. George Raymond Roscoe DFM.Royal Air Force 83 Squadron George Roscoe enlisted in 1938. He was a wireless operator on one of 6 Hampdens from 83 Squadron which flew over the North Sea on the first day of the war. He was wounded in the Dortmund-Ems Canal raid on 12 August 1940 when he was in the first plane, piloted by Jimmy Pitcairn-Hill. He subsequently completed 83 ops and survived the war.
