205950 Shirley Mavis Mills Women's Land Army from:Wigmore My mother Shirley Mavies Mills, born on 9/08/1929 joined the land army but I am not sure when she joined - I think it was in 1944 or 1945. She was first sent to Edenbridge, near Tonbridge in Kent where she lived at the Womens Land Army Hostel. She stayed there for some time until she secured a permanent job on a dairy farm at Swingfield near Folkstone. She left at about the end of 1948 and went to work for the Navy Army and Air Force Institute (NAAFI). I would like to find out more about her life history and if anyone knew her and has stories and/or photos of her. I would dearly love to hear from them as she passed away in 199, and we have only one photo of her in her uniform.
