Cpl. James Smith

United States Army

I am trying for years to find James Smith, who was my father. My mother met him while he was stationed at the US Army Rehab Unit, Stoneliegh Park, Warwickshire,England. They both loved dancing to the music of Glen Miller. My mother said he was from Oregon, but maybe not, she was not good at names.

I don't wish to cause a problem but I would love to know if he survived. He certainly left me with an inbuilt love of American things, sports, music etc. He may have been demoted to private after my birth. He had shrapnel wounds from which he was recovering.

There was a site about the hospital on the net at one time but I can't find it now. I only know the doctor who set it up was ahead of his field. Oh, yes, my father's O/C was apparently Capt Wages but this may have been a command title.

Any info gratefully received in complete confidence.
