Cpl. John Boston "Sandy" Harrison

British Army

from:Northallerton

My Dad, John Harrison was called up in 1940 having previously worked for the Post Office Counters. He married my mum Patricia Calladine on 15th August 1941, she was 18. As far as I know a lot of his initial training was done at Whitby, North Yorkshire.

He was an accomplished pianist and played in The Sigstet Band during his time in the Middle East. I have suitcases full of old photos and memorabilia that I have no one to ask about now. He always said the reason he was made a Cpl was so he could play in the Officer's Mess! My niece aged 13 has his piano which was bought for him when he was 9. I also have a music stool full of 40's music with lists of songs he would have played.
