1st Lt. Dorothy Ann Anderson

US Army Air Corps 313th Station Medical Group

from:Imogene, Iowa

My mother was Dorothy A.Anderson 1st Lt in the Army Air Corps from November 22nd 1942 to April 19th 1944 she served in Alaska in the Aleution Islands.

She passed away in 1988, but I was told a few stories. There were pictures of a man she was always with and she looked so happy. Apparantly she was in love with this man. He was a pilot and went out one day on a mission and never returned. There are pictures of her an him leaning on a gerney which would be in the hospital but Im not certain which Island it is. It had an airplane runway and a hospital and I found one picture of a store called mountain view store.

I have several certificates, one of wich is to certify that Dorothy A. Anderson, Second LT # N 733082 , completed the training for Army nurses at Ft Rucker, Alabama. She also took a course at Randolf Field Texas and earned a diploma for Flight nurse with the Army Air Forces August 1, 1947, and was discharged on May 31st, 1948.

Some of the pictures I have look like she was quite sad and I have to assume it was the loss of the man she cared about so much.
