205035 Paymaster Commander William Arthur Sharp Royal Navy HMS Penelope (d.10th May 1940) I know that my uncle William Sharp was an officer on HMS Penelope because I have his name in the souvenir book for the ship on its first commisssion 1936-39. My father told me that he was killed in the war and I have always assumed that he went down with the Penelope when it was torpedoed in Feb 1944. However, I can't find his name on crew records at this time.
Editors note: Cmdr Wiliam Arthur Sharp is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, his date of death is listed as 10th May 1940.
