Staff Sargent Warren Walter Hill Bronze Star, Purple Heart
US Army
from:Baltimore, MD, USA
My late father, Warren Hill was part of the Battle of Normandy. He was wounded in France and spoke of being flown back to England and ultimately going to Wales to convalesce after surgery to save his leg. He also spoke of the beauty of the Welsh countryside - he told us where many years ago, but we didn't write down the location. Now, we would like to visit the area, but we don't know where to look. He had described the place as a private country home that had been turned into a convalescent hospital. Were there such places in Wales during WWII where Americans might have been sent and if so, where were they located? Any information would be appreciated.
