Pte. Edwin Reginald Russ
from:Hornsey, London, Middlesex
My Dad, Ted Russ, served with the Cameronians, but his army service book does not say which battalion he was in. He was a mortar specialist in 1942 and a carrier driver in 1943. I believe he was in Italy as well as India. He contracted malaria while serving and I believe it was then that he drove petrol tankers in India. My Dad died in 1982 aged 65 and spoke very little about the war and it wasn't until my mum passed away that I found his army service book. He was awarded the 1939-1943 star which was awarded for active service, but I don't know where or which campaign. I have some photos of him and some members of his regiment and would like to share them, maybe they might be recognised by someone.
After the war from 1946 until 1952 he was with the R.A.S.C in Hastings as a driver and was given the rank of Lance Coporal. He was with the 410 Coy A Platoon.
