186961 Pvt. Edmund A. Lojko Purple HeartUS Army 101st Airborne Division from:Massachusetts, USA My Grandfather, Edmund Lojko recently passed away and I am trying to find information on his WWII history. He would seldom talk about it. I know he was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, Screamin Eagles. He was taken prisoner 3 times, escaped twice, and released at the end of the war from Stalag 4f. I also know that he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. But I want to know more.
I am looking for anyone who may have known him during the war. I would really like hear any stories and see any pictures, etc. Additional Information: | Your grandfather and my dad, Bernard J "Buddy" Wamser, were buddies in WWII. They went through training together at Ft. Benning and were in Parachute Class #49. They were assigned to Regimental HQ Company for D-Day. I have the company photo, which your grandfather signed on the back, but I don't know which one he is. I have a letter in my dad's war stuff from you grandfather, post-marked Nov 4, 1945. I think your grandfather visited St. Louis once when I was little, but not sure. My dad passed away in 1992 and only talked about the war once on the 40th anniversary of D-Day, because we made him. I'll ask my siblings, who are older, if they remember anything about Eddie.Nancy Symeonoglou
