Gladys Florence "Laddie" Citron

Land Army

My Mother was a member of this very important task force and I would like to contact anyone who might have known her during this time.

Her name was Gladys Florence Citron, known as 'Laddie'. She also had a particular friend, also in the Land Army, called 'Laddie' too. My Mother was a Londoner, had a sister called Beatrice Emily Citron. I do not think her sister was in this organisation. During her time in the Land Army she was based at Swift's, a very large farm in Much Hadham in Herts. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Additional Information:

I own a property Old Hall Farm, Much Hadham. Years ago there was a family Swift who rented my home. It was then 200 plus acres of orchards. Trees were grubbed out about 1966. The property was at about that time bought by a larger neighbouring property Moor Place. There is a story as follows...A Mr Swift was outside in a metal bath during the summer in the afternoon circa 1943. A single German plane flew over and dropped x3 bombs landing in the nearby fruit trees. One was quite close and blew Mr Swift out of the bath. The school children at the primary school over one mile away ran to the house to find Mr Swift naked running about concussed. The fruit from the orchards was packed and all sent to London on the branch line now closed in 1965. In one of the old barns now gone, the British Library stored some books brought from London by train during the war years and it said the old Post Master Mr Groom (I remember him) who was responsible for a time running the Home Guard practised his manoeuvres at the property.
