260822 Heinz Klawikowski from:Danzig, Germany Heinz Klawikowski was born in 1919 in Danzig. He served with 220th Panzer Pionier Battalion, 21st Panzer Division and was taken as a prisoner of War on the 2nd of August 1944 at St. Lo. On 7th of August 1944 he arrived at POW Camp 6 Haltwhistle, Northumberland. On 24th of January 1945 he was transferred to the USA and on 14th of March 1945 was at Camp Ashfort General Hospital in Virginia. He returned to England in 1946 and on 17th of May was registered at Camp 121 Knaresborough, in Yorkshire and was sent to Racecourse Camp, Ripon, West Riding, Yorkshire. On 25th of June 1946he arrived at Camp 116 Mill Lane, Hatfield Heath, Bishop's Stortford, Essex and on 23rd of September 1946 he was at Camp 273 Debach Airfield, Debach, Woodbridge, East Suffolk and was housed at Flixton Airfield, Bungay, East Suffolk. On 17th of January 1947 he was transferred to Camp 4 Gilling Camp, Richmond, North Riding, Yorks and then to Scraptoft, Thurnby in Leicestershire. He returned to Germany on 1st of February 1947 and was sent to 23 Munster-Lager camp for released Prisoners of War. This information was obtained from the German federal archives (Bundesarchiv) in Berlin.
