AB. Frederick Arthur Roper

Royal Navy HMS Pembroke

from:Coventry

Fred Roper

We applied for Frederick Ropers's naval records. He served on HMS Pembroke between 28 Sept 1938 and 13 May 1946 with spells on other ships. HMS Pembroke was his main ship. He told us that he was torpedoed several times and was missing for several months presumed dead. After one mission, he turned up in Coventry after being given a lift from Chatham having swum under oily seas in battle.
