263068 Pte. William Thomas Jeffries British Army 1st Btn. South Staffordshire Regiment from:Walsall (d.14th May 1941) My mother's cousin William Jeffries is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial so I suspect no body was recovered. The story is that he was on a ship that was bombed but I cannot find records of ships being sunk in that area on that date. I have just found out about him and Would love to find out more.
