Arthur John Hicks

British Army Grenadier Guards

from:Hertfordshire

My uncle, Arthur Hicks was POW 279059 held in Stalag 4F, Hartmansdorf, Chemnitz. His family didn’t know if he was alive, so when he walked into the kitchen where his wife was she fainted! Having been shipped home, he was on a train being sent to be officially processed, and when the train passed through his home town he jumped off. He later got into trouble for doing that!
