Spr. Thomas Mullin

British Army 252nd Field Coy. Royal Engineers

from:Haydock, St. Helens

My granddad Tom Mullin volunteered to join up in April 1940. He was a miner and came from a small mining village in Lancashire called Haydock. I am guessing that because of his mining background he went into the Royal Engineers as a sapper. His war records are very sketchy to say the least, as he was a very private man and chose never to speak about the war other than he spent a lot of time in the North African desert as well as all over Europe. After the war, he returned to mining where he finished his working life. He died i 2001 at age 85.
