Walter Fridberg was a Prisoner of War from Sept 7th 1944 to May 28th 1945. He was born in Mainz, Germany. He was Jewish and his family fled the country- only Walter and his father survived. Walter was 15 years old when he took a ship from Rotterdam to NYC. He was 19 years old when he enlisted in the US Army and was 21 when he was discharged. He went on to marry, have 2 children, 3 grandchildren, and lived in NJ until his eighties.
