Pte. Leslie Thomas Wood

British Army 1st Btn. Loyal (North Lancashire) Regiment

from:Nottingham

(d.1st Jun 1940)

Leslie Wood, 1st Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire)

Leslie Wood is my great-grandad, whose name wasn’t actually Leslie, but George. George used his younger brother's name to join the Army, and he is also buried in a war grave under the name Leslie. I have managed to get his military records, which make interesting reading. He admitted his real name well before the war, yet was still known in the Army as Leslie. I’ve never been able to find much on Leslie himself, but he was in a reserved occupation.
