Able Sea. Charles Gilbert Broome
Royal Navy HMS Manchester
from:Birmingham
My granddad, Able Seaman Charles Broome, was interned at the Laghouat POW Camp in Algeria after the sinking of HMS Manchester.
A silver lining of his internment, if there could ever be such a thing, is that when on compassionate/recuperation leave in Scotland after being freed by the American Army, he met my grandmother (a serving naval nurse at the time)...and the rest, I guess, is history.
