Dominic King served on the submarine HMS Tuna (N94) from 3rd of March 1942 to June 1944. He was aboard on the 30th of November 1942 and participated in Operation Frankton with 12 Royal Marines, who raided the Bordeaux Harbor in an operation which became popularly known as the 'Cockleshell Heroes'.
Dominic earned a Distinguished Service Medal for 'Skill and Outstanding presence of mind during a successful attack on a German U-Boat, 22nd of August 1943. King was the helmsman during the attack and contributed greatly to its success by his coolness and efficiency.'
