PO. Reginald Leonard Reeves

Royal Navy HMS Furious

from:Pengam, Glam

My late father served in the Royal Navy from 1933-48. Pre-war, he served aboard HMS Carlisle and HMS Apollo. From 1938 to 1942, he was aboard HMS Rodney which took part in the hunt for the Bismarck. He then transferred to the escort carrier HMS Furious, where he was a torpedo gunner's mate, and saw service in the Mediterranean and Arctic theatres. Following the withdrawal of HMS Furious from service in late 1944, he was an instructor at various Royal Navy stations until his demobilisation in 1948.
