Pte. Leslie Kershaw
British Army York and Lancaster Regiment
My father, Leslie Kershaw, was captured in Norway after crossing from Scapa Flo.
He was a POW in Stalag XXB. One day they were all called out and the Germans came round with a board asking what their occupation was.
Another prisoner nudged dad and said tell them you grow potatoes. A few days later dad was called out to the gate and sent to a farm to work.
I would love to find out more of this story.
