Edith Muirhead Weston
Womens Land Army
from:174 Wells Street, Birmingham
My late grandmother,Edith Weston, served as a member of the Women's Land Army from 1939 to 1942.
She was stationed at Laughers Buildings, Stratford upon Avon. The owners of the property were Arthur J Banbrook & Evelyn D Banbrook. On some of Edith's other paperwork there is another number quoted, 1566, no idea what this relates to.
Edith was born in 1914 and sadly died in 1957. She had just one child, my mother Rosemary Weston who was born in 1942.
After leaving the Women's Land Army, Edith went to work at GWR Snow Hill, Hockley as a female carter, handling large horses. I think this experience was gained from her time in the Women's Land Army.
