Pte. Hubert Raymond Hart

British Army 19th Battalion Essex Regiment

from:Primrose Crescent, Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich, Norfolk.

My father Hubert Hart was compulsory transferred from The Norfolk Regiment in 1943, and following the formation of the 19th Essex Regiment in Alexander or Cairo, they moved down to Khartoum (South Barracks) in Sudan, prior to moving into Eritrea to train with the 2nd Sudan Defence Force. The 19th Essex were disbanded upon return to Alexander after only 531 or 581 days. I have copies of his service record, his personal diaries and letters from the curator at the Essex Regimental Museum, as well as some photographs of some of the men and the areas where they trained.
