Pte. David Hosea Murray

British Army

from:Brechin, Scotland

My late father, David Murray, was a guard at Scraptoft POW camp during WW2. He told me it was very relaxed and most of the prisoners did not try to escape, apart from one time some prisoners hid inside straw mattresses, but they were soon discovered. I have a painting one of the German POWs made as a thank you to him for his kindness and consideration.
