Pte. John Edward May

British Army 2/5th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment

from:Wednesbury, Staffordshire

(d.23rd September 1944)

John May was only married for 3 years to Ivy May before he was killed in the war aged 33. He is buried in the Coriano Ridge War Cemetery in Italy. He and Ivy didn't have any children, but Ivy never remarried after his death and died herself 50 years later. He was known by Ivy's family as Jack (and I imagine by his family too).
