US Army Infantry

from:Sioux Falls, SD

Little details are known other than George Rowland was in the company of two other men, one of whom was an American Army Sergeant, when he was captured by the Germans. Because he was an officer, Jerry was separated from the other men and transported to Dulag 12. He was treated for a bullet wound to his chest and his head. He escaped once but was swiftly recaptured because of his wounds and poor health. He was later liberated. He was reported a prisoner on 16th of December 1944, and was reported free on 23rd of November 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
