Pilot Officer Michael Williams was a Mosquito pilot during WW2 with 68 Squadron dealing with patrols against enemy aircraft and against V1 bombs referred to as divers.
Williams and his navigator Sgt. A. G. Waples successfully downed two V1 rockets on anti diver patrols in 1944.
Williams and Waples went on a anti diver patrol on the 21st of July 1944 at night with one other aircraft and at 05:10 control informed the flight commander that Williams and Waples were missing and last fix was obtained 4 miles east of Dover. No further news came through.
He is now remembered on the Runnymede Memorial.
