Lt Hugh Handford was my father. He was appointed to HMS Halsted as Second Lt. on 11th of March 1944. Halsted was torpedoed by E Boats on the 11th of June 1944. He and many others of the crew were blown overboard and killed. He was washed ashore in Normandy and is buried at Bayeux War Cemetery.
