Frederick Robert Ede

Auxiliary Fire Service

from:Deptford, London

(d.17th January 1941)

Frederick Ede joined the Auxiliary Fire Service at the outbreak of war and served in London during the Blitz. While attending a fire at the docks he was crushed by falling equipment used on the docks and he died aged 34 on the 17th of January 1941 leaving a son aged 13 and a daughter aged 11 (my nan) as orphans, their mother having died in 1930 aged only 22. As my grandmother was only a child when he died she has no service number or anything else except her cherished memories of her dad.
