Royal Navy HMS Furious

Ted Turner joined The Royal Navy on 14th of February stationed in Devonport at HMS St George, which was a land based training school. He was aged 15 at the time. He then went onto HMS Drake, which was also a shore based barracks based in Devonport, where sailors undertook training prior to being posted to sea. Within two weeks of joining he was Mentioned in Dispatches on 4th March 1940 and awarded the Oak Leaf Clasp.

He left to join HMS Furious on 12th of April 1941.
