John was the son of George and Ellen Bourne. He had one sister, Hilda. John was a regular soldier serving with The Kings Regiment (Liverpool) in India prior to WW2. He was attached to the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps and was posted as missing, presumed dead in June 1940. He died on 8th June 1940 aged just 26, and his name is on the Dunkirk Memorial.
