Stanley Hirst British Army 1st Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment from:Ossett, Wakefield, West Yorkshire Stanley Hirst was born on the 3rd March 1922 in Ossett, Wakefield, West Yorkshire the son of James and Kate Hirst. He joined the 1st Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment and on the 25th March 1945 while he was a Corporal he was wounded in action fighting the Japanese in Burma with the 14th Army South East Asia Command.
