Bert Hawtin was first taken prisoner in 1942 and reported as missing on 20th of June 1942. In 1943 he shows up as a prisoner of war in Italy but by 1945 he has been transported to Germany to Stalag 4F Hartsmannsdorf Chemnitz.
Bert returned home safe and well and went on to marry and have a son.
