AbleSea. Thomas Henry Neighbour

Royal Navy HMS Dasher

from:Islington

(d.27th March 1943)

Thomas Neighbour was born on Christmas Day 1922. He had four brothers, Joseph, Francis, Terry and William. He also had a sister who has the same name as his mum, Catherine Emma, his dad's name was also Thomas. Thomas attended Foster Road School, Islington, North London. He was always the family favourite and he enjoyed football and dancing although his sister always suspected that he only went dancing to look after her.

Thomas never ever spoke about the Dasher and on his last leave his sister asked him not to go back but he would not hear of it. When Thomas perished he left behind a sorely grieving family and a loving sweetheart, Marie Freeman. Thomas’s mother never ever looked forward to Christmas after the tragedy as her son was born on Christmas Day. He was 21 when he passed.
