British Army 9th Field Squadron Royal Engineers from:8 Chandos Road, Willesdon, London Eric Street enlisted on 26th of September 1939 as a student at Oxford University. He was posted to 142 OCTU on 24th of April 1940. He joined 9th Field Squadron, RE as a 2nd Lieutenant on 15th of October 1940. He landed in North Africa in July 1942. He fought at Alamein with the 7th Armoured Division and in 1943 Italy at Palerno, Naples and Volturno. He landed in Normandy on D Day+5 and fought with the 7th through to Berlin where he stayed on to help with the rebuilding of Germany till his release in 1946.
