Vernon Brooker was my Uncle, he was sent to the USA in 1941 with the Arnold Scheme to learn to fly, he was washed out and re-appeared at BFTS 1 in Terrell Texas. He married my Mothers sister and within 2 weeks was sent to North Africa with 154 Squadron, at the age of 20yrs old was shot down in his Spitfire by German predicted Flak near Sedjenane.
