Cpl. Cyril Norman Constable

British Army 2/5th Battalion Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment

from:Woking, Surrey

Cyril Constable of The Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment was my wife Susan's paternal grandfather who was captured in France in 1940. He was at Stalag 383 in 1945, if not before. His POW number was 715. He said he had been on the Long March. He came home but died relatively young of cancer. In a photograph apparently taken at the camp (which we saw reproduced in a local newspaper), there were more than 20 men from his regiment there.
