Cpl. Edward Charles Hayward

British Army Royal Army Ordnance Corps

from:Acton, West London.

Ted Hayward signed up on his 21st birthday, 1st of Aug 1940. He was a civil servant before enlistment. During his service he acted as a Storeman, Post Corporal and Dispatch Rider. I understand he was awarded the Africa Star, the 1939-45 Star and the Defence Medal.

The testimonial on his release form reads "Cpl E.C Hayward overseas about 4 1/3 years has been a Storeman also employed as Post Corporal. A Steady reliable N.C.O who has carried on his duties efficiently, possesses control, is quick thinking and is self reliant. He has done well."
