Cpl. Charles Harry Croucher

British Army 1st Battalion Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry

My father, Charles Croucher, served in the 1st Battalion, Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (43rd Foot) from 1939 until 6 months before the end of the war. The reason being that he lost his right eye in a mortar bomb attack and for the rest of his life wore a glass eye. He was awarded the 1939-45 medal, the Defence medal, the France and Germany Star and the 1939-45 Star all of which I have. He died in 1999.
