RSM. Josef Bartos

Free Czech Army

from:Prague

My Dad, Josef Bartos, fought in Spain 1936-39 fighting for the Republicans, he escaped over the Pyrenees with a shattered leg and was placed in a French concentration camp in Southern France. When given the opportunity he volunteered to fight Germany and was shipped out on the Neuralia in 1940 bound for Britain. He met my mother and was married. He fought in France after D Day and was invalided home. He lived here after the war and loved England, he is buried here and is remembered with immense pride
