Frank Lyoness was an Irish citizen of England during 1942, he was conscripted into the army in 1942 but refused to join and was arrested and convicted for 3 months. When he got out of prison he decided to join the army of his own free will and consequently was placed in the 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden and was shot twice and captured as a POW by the Germans until the war ended.
