244989 PO Stkr. William John Mannell Royal Navy HMS Sirius William Mannell, my great grandfather, served in the Royal Navy from 1916 to 1945 as a Stoker. His main ships included HMS Glorious in WWI and HMS Sirius in WWII. He also served on submarines between the wars. After WWII he settled in Portsmouth and is buried in Kingston Cemetery, not far from The Battle of Minden pub which he and my great grandmother owned at one point. I do have his service record and some diary entries and technical notes but there's quite a lot there and some of it is almost unreadable.
