My mum Josephine Bennett served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force. All she talked about for years was working at High Ercall during the war. She used to check pilot and plane details before take off, and often stood on the wings of Spitfires. She told stories about when the base was bombed. I am trying to find photos or confirm this.
