Royal Navy HMS Philoctetes
Cornelius Boam was a constable in the East Riding Constabulary before the war. He was in the Navy as an Electrical Artificier, spending 2 and a half years in Sierra Leone, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
He rejoined the East Riding Constabulary in 1945 and served to the rank of Superintendent. He died aged 47 in 1965.
