My father, Edward Platt, joined the 12th Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) in 1939. He served on home service and in the Faero Islands until 1943. The battalion was disbanded and 90 men under the command of Captain Harper were transferred to the Royal West Kents. They then fought in Italy and also in Greece.
