231606 Capt. Ralph Edward Manuel United States Army 47th Infantry Regiment from:Winchester, VA My Great Uncle, Capt Ralph E. Manuel, from Winchester, VA was captured in November of 1944 in Western Germany. I believe he was in the 47 Infantry Regiment. The National Archives has him listed in Stalag he escaped to the Allied lines. He remained in the Army rising to the Rank of LT. Col. before he retired. Unfortunately, I never met him.
