Pte. Oran Marshall
US Army
from:Breathitt, Kentucky, USA
Oran Marshall spoke very little about his experiences as a prisoner of war, probably because he was unable to. He did say that it was a living hell, starved, beaten, and worked like a mule, with fellow prisoners killed alongside him. I would often see him staring into space for long periods of time, as if he was watching a movie of his terrible experiences which haunted him for the rest of his life.
I am so happy to have known this great man, who was so kind and enduring, my hero, my Dad.
I am glad to have found wartimememoriesproject.com., and have read a lot of the stories, maybe my father would have known some of the people mentioned in them.
