S/Sgt Robert Blattman
United States Army B Battery 1st Battalion 200th Coast Artillery
My great uncle, S Sgt Robert Blattman served with B Battery 1st Battalion 200th Coast Artillery. He was one of the galiant defenders of the Philippine Islands in the opening days of World War II. After the surrender of Bataan on the 9th April 1942, Blattman would spend 3.5 years as a prisoner on war. He was transferred to Fukuoka in 1944.
