Pte. Laurence Edward "Monty" Hazell
British Army Dorset Regiment
from:Harlington
My father, Lawrance Hazell, served in the Dorset Regiment from 1944-1947.
Like many others, he did not talk much about his experiences but I know that the war and the friends he made and lost lived with him all the time.
We returned to the war graves shortly before he passed away and the image will last with me forever.
Even though his name is Lawrance Hazell, his nickname from the war was "Monty", he told me that the "boys"(the guys in his regiment), had given him this name due to his likeness to Montgomery ", however that's my dads story! I have one picture of my father in his uniform but sadly do not know the names of the men who are with him.
I would love to hear from anyone who knew my dad, to tell me stories perhaps that he was unable to tell. I would love to see pictures of that time that relate to his time to be able to pass onto my children and grandchildren. I don't want them to forget what so many had to go through.
