Captain W Driscoll

United States Air Force

(d.18th Oct 1944)

I am undertaking research on a memorial to the 24 American Service men who died in a B24 crash over Prenton, Wirral on 18 October 1944. I have a full list of their names and have pictures of the memorial if you wish to have them. I am a former Royal Marine, who now looks after the main war memorials on the Wirral. I would like to know the history of the flight and any other information you may give me. I believe the owner of the small parcel of land has tried to contact the USAAF for information of the flight but has been unsuccessful to date. He has contacted me as a member of Wirral Borough Council to see if I would be able to assist him. We are keen to have these men remembered. I have just listed the captain as a starting reference. If you have any information I would be most interested.
